CAIRO: Around 150 people praying today threw stones at approximately 60 activists protesting the Egyptian army and the Supreme Council of the Armed Forces (SCAF) outside the al-Azhar Mosque in Cairo.

Those praying accused the demonstrators of sabotage after chants like “Oh Sheikh, tell our Pope; they will never divide us” and “It is not sectarian violence, it is a military massacre” were heard.

The praying Egyptians responded by chanting, “The People and the Army are One Hand.”

The demonstrating youth marched to Saint Mark’s Coptic Orthodox Catheral in Abassiya.

The Imam today called for unity and cohesion in the Friday sermon.
