The United States and China unveiled $45 billion in export deals today as Presidents Barack Obama and Hu Jintao sought to paper over deep rifts about trade, currencies and security.
Amid the pomp of a state visit, Obama and Hu vowed to seek common ground as they launched talks aimed at easing the strains of the past year over North Korea, economic imbalances, human rights, Taiwan, Tibet and a host of other issues.

Meanwhile, a NATO official said commanders were not aware that Moammar Gadhafi was in the convoy that was struck Thursday in Sirte by missiles fired from a French warplane, and which led to his subsequent death. "The convoy was a clear military target," said the official who could not be named under standing rules. "We later learned that Gadhafi was in the convoy. Methods > Review of the literature using the Medline digital database (1980–2007). Previously published studies or studies not found in the database were included if relevant. Four types of studies were selected: (1) epidemiological, (2) toxicologic, (3) clinical, and (4) fundamental research. Publications concerning cancer of the nasopharynx were excluded. This work is based upon the ANAES guide for analysis of the literature and rating of guidelines, published in January 2000. Results > The principal risk factors are tobacco and alcohol.
